Gran Yaya, the lady who inspired Chef Shaëlle's cooking is in Los Angeles!!! This is big because all of her life, Yaya has been cooking for her family and community in Haiti. A few years back, Yaya was granted a visa and has been frequently visiting her daughter (Shaelle's mom) in Connecticut. Haiti and a small town in Connecticut is all she knew until THIS WEEK! This week, she flew into LA to visit her (favorite) grandchild and help her with her small business you may know of - BANANE.
We hope you'll join us on Sunday, November 27th at the North Hollywood Park (Magnolia Blvd + Tujunga Ave) for some delicious Haitian food, Island Yoga and lots of dancing.
Pate Djon Djon (Mushroom Patty) ($10)
2 patties stuffed with oyster mushrooms, green onions, garlic and tomatoes
Pate Bèf (Beef Patty) ($10)
2 patties stuffed with Beyond Meat "ground beef", red onions, garlic and bell peppers, and parsley
Pate Legume (Veggie Patty) ($10)
2 patties stuffed with spinach, onions, eggplant, and tomatoes
Diri Blan ak Sos Pois (White Rice and Red bean sauce) ($5)
A Haitian classic! White rice perfectly stuck together with Red Bean Sauce to pour on top
Papitas (Plantain Chips) ($5)
You know them as BANANE. We'll have solo bags of Sweet Yellow, Savory green, Cinnamon Sugar and Candied Ginger available.
Gato Anana (Pineapple Rum Cake) ($5)
Think pineapple upside cake but with a splash of rum! Yup, this too is dairy/ animal product free.
